Cactus Cafe in Whites City

I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this place needs some help. The lady was nice,T but clearly overwhelmed--when with next to no one in the resturant. There was a long wait even though there were plenty of open tables. Quite a few people were never seated and just left. The hamburger was a frozen patty. The steak burrito had a tortilla and chopped steak and nothing else. We left wondering if they only have frozen food and a microwave.

After waiting 10 minutes to be seated in the empty restaurant, we were asked to seat ourselves. We waited for another 15 minutes before the server appeared again. We were never been given menus and had to retrieve one from the hostess booth. Finally the server returned and asked if we were ready to order drinks. Hungry from our time in the caves, we had chosen food orders too. We said we were also ready to order food, and she said in an irritated voice that she would only take drinks and was annoyed we only wanted water. We left promptly after this.

Very slow service. Will not be coming here again. Could have had two meals at a fast food place with quality food.

The food was disgusting. My corn dog was so hard I could barely eat it. I will not ever go here again. I would rather go to a fast food restaurant!

Awesome food in a cute town. Looked vintage mixed with modern plus a nice staff and food was great!

We sat down fast and got our food in 10 minutes but there were not many people here though good food

Waited 20 minutes to get seated and then once seated...it took the waitress 15 minutes to come back to our table to take drink orders....we ordered our food at the same time and it took her another 12 minutes to bring our drinks....after waiting another 30 minutes we still had not even gotten our food....watch people get up and leave ...so we did to...horrible service.

Good service, good food reasonable prices!! Stop here before going to the caverns!

Ordered the 8oz steak and asked the waitress what kind of steak it was. She told me that it was a Ribeye, so I ordered the steak medium rare and ended up receiving a marinaded seasoned steak with onions on top that looked like liver. It was definitely not a rib eye. When it came, it was not medium rare and tough to chew. My wife also ordered the chicken fried steak and it was overcooked and the mashed potatoes were instant. That wasn't an enjoyable meal.

Had to wait a while before being seated and there was only 3 customers. Iced tea and water was good but the nachos were chips with canned cheese on them with some kind of nasty ground meat! Horrible food! Will not eat there again!

would rate lower if possible. The food was good overall, except for the raw eggs. The service was just horrible. She was on her phone 95% of the time. Took 20 minutes to bring three sodas, despite the fact we were the only costumers there. Took our order and came back 45 min later with cold plates. We sent them back. They came back under 10 minutes but the egg was raw. The food as good overall but the service was just unacceptable. Spent 30min their after she brought the food, asked for a refill on my coffee and did not get it. her excuse " I had to charge my phone it was running our of battery" Management totally lacks attention there. Description of Waitress, 18-20 years old, Thin Female, Long Nails which are not permitted according to Food Handlers.

I'm glad my experience wasn't like some of the other reviews posted. My spouse and I had zero complaints about this place. It was right at lunch time. There were several other tourists in the area and local workers starting their lunch break. We were greeted and seated immediately. Ordered our drinks right away and got them in just a few minutes. After we ordered our food, it showed up in about 15 to 20 minutes. The food was good and reasonably priced. I enjoyed my visit and would stop by again if in the area.

This was very good food and friendly service. We just walked trails at Carlsbad caverns and we were very thirsty. We'll be back when we attempt visiting caverns again

This is a great place to eat in the area Carlsbad Caverns. Food is super good and the sweet tea is one of the best I've ever had. The facility is clean and the service is good as well. If you are in this very remote location, you must stop by and try them out!

Stopped by here for lunch with the family , we weren’t sure cause we have never been here or heard of the place Food was delicious, food was inexpensive, and friendly and quick service will definitely come back

don't eat here. unless you're starving don't eat here. Drive into carlsbad town and get something to eat, way more options and way better food. You wait forever for food that tastes like cardboard.

Only had breakfast and it was good. Nothing else in the area.

TRAVELERS BEWAREThis place is definitely a DNR (do not return). It’s very poorly managed and staffed. You wait a long time to be seated, even though they’re not busy. Everything is straight out of the freezer and on to the plate. The server NEVER returned to our table after getting our food. Then, once you’ve suffered through everything else, you stand at the register for ungodly lengths of time waiting to pay for your poor excuse for a meal.

I ate it cheesecake and I hate it. It tasted too much so Philadelphia cheese and bit of little old milk of cheese cake. Ew! You should never order cheesecake because you will see it's awful thick cheesecake is top and Graham cookie crust is old, little dry and little wet and cold!!!! 😨🤢

I was seated fast, the servers were friendly and sweet. They recommended the green Chile plate and I liked it. Close to Guadalupe Mountains and Carlsbad Caverns NP also!

Food was ok. Service was ok. Prices were very high but we attributed this to it being the only restaurant in town. For example, 3 tacos with rice and beans was 15.99, whereas we normally pay about 7.99 for a plate the same size in texas. Husband and I will likely take our own food next time or stop before reaching White City. Gift shop across street has snacks and hot dogs.

We waited 15 minutes to be seated. Waited 10 minutes for drinks. Waited another 15 minutes for Chips/Salsa/Guacamole.. They were out of chips and the lady said they were making more.. 15 minutes later we got them. My husbands food came out 20 min later.. then 10 more minutes and my kid finally got her pizza.. few more minutes and they brought me the wrong plate. My 2 yr old was fussing for her nuggets, which came last and she didn’t eat because she shared pizza with my oldest. They took their sweet precious time with us and over charged us. Food was good, but it should NOT EVER, take that long!!!

I honestly like this place. They did take long but it was for lack of employers but the food was great. I honestly recommend it even if it takes some time.

Good place to go eat a chicken fried steak. Service was good for us we will return.

This restaurant is a police slow we've been sitting here for 35 minutes we got a drink but still waiting on their grilled cheese and nachos we will never come back here again but the lady is nice

Waited a bit to get seated finally did and was told “she will help you if she can” we waited understanding it might be busy. We ended up leaving due to them rushing over to help serve a table that was sat 15 minutes after we were sat waiting. I’m really hoping it wasn’t because we were different than the other customers

We got there on a Tuesday around 4:30pm. We were seated fast. Both food and customer service was good.

Food was good and in good quantity. Service was great, but a little on the slower side.

Unreal this place needs a negative 5 stars unclean floors staff was attentive enough bad service this place needs to be shut down
